Aretha Franklin – The Movie - It is coming isn’t it? - 2011
Aretha Franklin has been constantly voted as the greatest soul singer of all time by many Rn’b and Soul music fans past and present.
Whether you agree with this statement or not it is your prerogative. However, she has been ranked as the number 1 singer within VH1’s greatest women of rock and roll poll.
She was also the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
There are other awards that she has racked up over the years, but one that must bring a smile to her face was when she was voted the greatest singer/vocalist of all time.
Fiction did actually become fact as she actually did get voted as the greatest singer of all time within a music/website magazine of the rock era.
This was via being voted by the influential Rolling Stone magazine/website poll in 2008.
Once again you may not agree with this choice. But please click on the link below to see the list for yourselves and see who was rated where.

Now rumors are afoot of a new movie that is planned to be filmed and then released about her own life story which takes its roots from the book that she put out in 1999 called (*Aretha: From These Roots).
Aretha has made it clear that she wants Hollywood superstar Halle Berry to play her in this pending movie biopic.
However, Halle herself has expressed some doubt about taking on the role. Jennifer Hudson has also been forwarded for the role and has expressed delight that she has been mentioned. However, we are all in the dark as to who will be confirmed as playing Aretha in this movie.
It seems that Aretha has hinted that she would like the movie to follow along the lines of “Ray” *The Movie Biopic shown around the life and times of (Ray Charles which starred Jamie Foxx).
Also, other actors have reportedly been asked to play various roles in the movie. Actors such as Denzil Washington and Terrance Howard it seems have been asked.
Gospel singers Karen Clark Sheard and LaShun Pace have also been asked to play the world-renowned gospel group, the Ward Singers, of whom Aretha says had the most influence on her career.
One of Aretha Franklin's latest public performances was to be at the nation’s capital (Washington D.C, USA) on the 12th of September 2011, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Thelonious Monk Institute.
Fans of Aretha must have had a huge sigh of relief to her fans as we all heard that she was on her last legs. Instead what they read and heard (*or for those that could get tickets to the event saw!) was an Aretha looking totally calm and relaxed.
Aretha Franklin, came to the Institute to accept yet another award which was the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz Founder’s Award.
Artists such as Herbie Hancock, and Jennifer Hudson as well as other Hollywood A-listers were also there to pay homage to the “Queen of Soul”.
A group was put together for the night which included Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves, Chaka Khan, and Jane Monheit which paid tribute to tribute to honoree Aretha Franklin by serenading her as she was in the audience at the time.
It seemed as if Aretha was going to take it easy and enjoy the night as a spectacle. However, after being awarded the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz Founder’s Award by former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright. Aretha decided that she had to take to the stage after this point.
It was there that Aretha eventually put down a performance at the award ceremony which saw the audience treated to a medley of her hits. She also gave her smooth rendition of the song called “Moody’s Mood for Love" created by James Moody.
Aretha wasn’t finished there as she also appeared at a Birthday bash for Tony Bennett on the 18th of September 2011 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, USA.
This was the first time that Aretha Franklin and Tony Bennett had performed together on stage.
The legendary crooner Tony Bennett celebrated his 85th birthday with other internationally known artists such as Elton John and Alejandro Sanz.
Bill Clinton former US president helped out with the show's opening activities of this same birthday bash. It seems as if Aretha is gradually proving those wrong who thought she had finished with stage performances since her recent illness was announced in December 2010.
Please listen to a song by Aretha Franklin that the whole world fell in love with.
